The 2013 Audi A5 was named the winner in the Aspirational Luxury Car category in AutoPacific’s 2013 Ideal Vehicle Awards (IVAs). Based on a survey of over 52,000 new car and light truck owners, the IVAs recognize the cars that meet their owner’s expectations and desires about their automotive purchases. Additionally, Audi also ranked highly in the Premium Brands and Luxury Car categories.
Established in 2006, the IVAs are based on a model-year survey of automotive owners and are designed to help consumers make informed vehicle purchase decisions with a true “peer-to-peer” survey. The survey reflects the views of owners who have driven their 2013 vehicles for 90 days or more. The IVAs recognize vehicles where owners want the least amount of change across 15 key vehicle attributes including: exterior styling, exterior size, passenger roominess, cargo space, driver’s seat comfort, driver’s seat visibility, info/entertainment technology, interior lighting, power and acceleration, ease of getting in and out, interior storage compartments, ride, handling, safety features and tires and wheels.
“We’re thrilled for Audi to once again have been ranked the number one Aspirational Luxury Vehicle in AutoPacific’s Ideal Vehicle Awards for the second year in a row,” said Mark Del Rosso, Chief Operating Officer, Audi of America. “The A5 continues to impress consumers by exuding sophistication, engineering, performance and design, the ultimate reward for drivers who enjoy the journey and not just the destination.”
The Audi A5 model line continues in 2014 with A5 and S5 Coupe and Cabriolet models, which continue to set standards for sportiness and efficiency in the mid-size segment of the premium market. In addition, the newly-introduced RS 5 Cabriolet – which combines track-tested engineering with the freedom of open air driving – joins the successful RS 5 Coupe for the 2014 Model Year.

Futuristic, progressive, cutting-edge: The Audi design team has created a car specifically for Summit Entertainment’s film adaptation of the award-winning, best-selling novel “Ender’s Game.” The visionary design makes the Audi Fleet Shuttle Quattro fit into the world of the science fiction feature film and combines futuristic design with groundbreaking technology.
The fictional Audi Fleet Shuttle Quattro seen in the film “Ender’s Game” marks the first time the car company has unveiled a purely virtual Audi in a feature film. True to the company’s “Vorsprung durch Technik” philosophy, the brand with the four rings collaborated with director Gavin Hood and the production team to use the latest technology to digitally and seamlessly integrate the Audi Fleet Shuttle Quattro into the futuristic environment of the film.
The company noted that the technologically advanced world of “Ender’s Game” is reflected in the design of the model. “The Audi in the movie represents progress and it appears in key scenes that have a lasting impact on the life of the protagonist,” explained Florian Zitzlsperger, responsible for Brand Partnerships at AUDI AG. “With this, our Audi becomes a part of this fictional world.”
“Designing the Audi Fleet Shuttle Quattro was comparable to tailoring a made-to-measure suit,” said Frank Rimili, Chief Designer for the film project. “We adapted it to the requirements of the world in ‘Ender’s Game’ and, at the same time, ensured that we preserved our brand values. Ultimately, we were able to project our design philosophy perfectly onto the fictional world of the movie.”
Linda McDonough, a producer of “Ender’s Game,” added, “The Audi brand is already very forward thinking which made their inclusion in our film an organic fit.”
Based on the best-selling, award-winning novel, the feature film “Ender’s Game” is an epic adventure written for the screen and directed by Gavin Hood starring Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Ben Kingsley and Viola Davis with Abigail Breslin and Harrison Ford.
Summit Entertainment, a LIONSGATE® company, will bring the film to theatres on November 1, 2013.

The new Fall-Line Motorsports customer-racing and quattro GmbH factory team showed great promise at Watkins Glen showing good speed and handling during difficult driving conditions due to intermittent rain throughout the race weekend. Fall-Line Motorsports completes its first GRAND-AM GT race and can build on a solid performance. The #24 quattro GmbH R8 GRAND-AM finished in 9th place and the Fall-Line Motorsports/B+ Foundation R8 GRAND-AM finished in 14th place.
“We congratulate our new racing partner Fall-Line Motorsports for completing their first GT race and also the #24 factory team for their valiant performance at Watkins Glen. Endurance racing is synonymous with the Audi brand and we are confident that the experience gained will benefit the teams as they strive to win the endurance championship at Indianapolis Speedway”, said Scott Keogh, President, Audi of America.
The #24 factory R8 GRAND-AM team piloted by Felipe Albuquerque (Portugal), Eduardo Mortara (France/Italy) and Dion von Moltke (South Africa) started from the 5th position and was making great strides toward a podium finish. The team led the race for 2 hours and 20 minutes in large part due to the efficiency of the 5.2 Liter V10 engine. However, multiple yellow flags were raised at unfortunate times that contradicted the fuel strategy. Emergency fuel stops caused the team to lose position and valuable time leading to a 9th place finish.
The Fall-Line Motorsport/B+ Foundation R8 GRAND-AM completed the race without incident or technical issues and allowed the drivers, engineers and mechanics to gain invaluable experience with the car in the pits and on the track. Continuously changing weather proved to make driving conditions exceedingly difficult throughout the race weekend. Piloting the Fall-Line Motorsports/B+ Foundation car were American drivers Al Carter, Charles Espenlaub, and Charlie Putman who finished in 14th place.
Both cars finished the race without any technical difficulties and proved they can deliver competitive lap times. The teams will begin preparing immediately for the Brickyard Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway as they seek to win the endurance championship.
The race will be televised on Speed TV: Friday, July 26th at 7:30pm EST.

An Audi spokesman has also stated that Audi vehicles with the Audi Connect infotainment system automatically download the parking app and place the app in its menu.
The most important question: How does it work? The driver can call up a menu in major cities that shows public, private, and municipal parking lots. Occupancy and rate information is displayed on the screen. Once the driver selects a parking lot, they can instruct the navigation system to display turn-by-turn instructions to get there.
Data available to the driver also include hours of operation, electric vehicle charging station availability, payment types and rates. The ParkMe app also includes information on parking availability at airports.
ParkMe co-founder, Alexander Israel, stated that the app can be downloaded for free on phones. Also, several other functions are being developed, such as the ability for the driver to send an e-mail to the parking lot operator to reserve a space and a display that shows real-time street parking availability.

Audi’s said today that its March U.S. sales jumped 14%, continuing its sales growth momentum for a 27th consecutive month.
Total sales of 13,253 marked Audi’s second-best month ever in the U.S. and contributed to a record first quarter.
As it did last month, the brand reported a large year-over-year increase — 25% — for its most expensive models — the A8 flagship, the A7 and A6 sedans and the Q7 SUV. Those top end models were 37% of total sales, Audi said.
SUVs showed particularly strong growth for the brand, with the three-row Q7 up 53% and the two-row, midsize Q5 up 39%.
“Demand remains extremely strong for our … premium models,” said Mark Del Rosso, COO of Audi of America in a statement. “All signs point to sustained growth in the months ahead as Audi works towards a target goal of 150,000 vehicles sold in the U.S. this year.”
Audi’s entry A4 sedan and its companion Allroad wagon were up 20%, to 3,951, making it the brand’s biggest volume seller.
Sales of the outgoing A3 hatch plummeted 81%; Audi previewed the coming new A3 sedan last week before the New York Auto Show and it goes on sale early next year.

Eight ultrasonic sensors monitor the zones directly in front of the car and at its corners. There is also a laser scanner that supplies high-precision data gathered at an angle of about 140 degrees and as far as 80 meters (262.47 ft) ahead of the front of the car. “As summed up in its slogan ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’, Audi is up among the leaders in the integration of electronic and electromechanical systems,” says Wolfgang Dürheimer, Board Member Technical Development, AUDI AG. “Piloted driving is a logical step for Audi, based on the in-car assistance systems already in use.”
Audi already plays a leading role in the premium segment with extensive safety, comfort and convenience equipment and tailor-made Internet services on its cars.
